Max Stalker
Hi to all 0/ I have a question - how to visualize the sun in Houdini? I remember at Maya there was a tool to visualize point source of light and if add on it displace noise shader - then we could achieve interesting effect, which looked almost like a sun But how to make something similar in Houdini ? :\
QuantumChaos
I came across a VEX sun shader at CAMF Productions. I haven't used it, but it may be of some use to you. Click on "Media" and then "VEX Shaders". Edited February 17, 2008 by QuantumChaos

symek
oh, thanx man !gona try this one today. P.s. nice link Check out Houdini's own lava shader (see Materials Library). Check out Houdini's Exchange for Ivan DeWolf's DFNoise code for fluid (plasma) like patterns generation. Check out some post-production tricks like glows, sparks, various volumetric-like effect to add them to your sun. Assume making effects is a challenge and fun but effects made with one-button solution hardly ever look good. Good luck. sy.

Thanks for reply ! *went for studying I don't wana one-button solution - in most cases they look lame or give result for very specific environment
