jbardakos
have u checked this.. we have been fooling around with processing i suddenly saw this thing.. http://www.cc.gatech.edu/~phlosoft/photon/ j
aracid
thats pretty cool to see
symek
Nice to see it . The way how they integrate photon's energy is fairly simply, still works great! EDIT: he, he, it's interactive! Edited March 17, 2008 by SYmek
photex
EDIT: he, he, it's interactive! yeah, that is cooool.
shikung444
yeah, that is cooool. is it feasible to write a similar shader that will do this with the same speed, in vex and vops?
symek
Check the code. Its a hack actually. This code works only for spheres and planes. The whole ray intersection business in simplified as much as possible. Plus sampling/AA/MO/DOF. This is nice example and introductory to 3d graphics (since processing itself was designed as learning environment) but you cannot compare it with any render engine. Yes, you can imagine Mantra does such thing, there are even render engines doing this, but this is not a shader issue, it's a whole architecture, good for play, fun, and perhaps motion design, but not for serious film work. Beside this it would be nice to have processing exporter for Houdini sy.
