How to Utilize the Resistance POP

Hi all,

I am looking at ways to control particles using a force and was wondering if any one had any simple examples on how to utilize the "RESISTANCE" POP?

I have looked in the help docs and there is no example?

The effect I am try to achieve is particles to be effected depending on where the force hits them as well as how far away they are from it and whats in front of them. So basically a type of wind tunnel.

Any help would be much appreciated.

the resistance pop actually fires rays against instance geometry bound to the points. The "hits" determine what directional and rotational forces are applied to the particles.

So, you need to have instance geometry on your points, set a reasonable number of rays (Ray Count) and manage the resultant forces. Mass and drag have a pretty strong effect.

You also may need to change the Object Type from Solid to Hollow if you are colliding against thin flat surfaces that don't define a volume (like leaves vs. say spheres).

Thanks but at the moment I cant get the Resistance POP to cook? I have passed my instanced geo to it and it just keeps crashing Houdini!
