cspears2002
Hi, I'm working on the tank from the cmivfx lecture "Introduction to Procedural Modeling." The treads look good, but they deform in strange ways when animated along a path. How can I keep their shape? makethetank_v10.hipnc
GallenWolf
Hey Chris! I checked out the file, I found a few problem frames, e.g. frame 104. The problem is when the ray sop fires the rays, I think it fires them from the points of the nurbs curve. If you look from the top view of that frame, you will notice that all the geometry there does not intersect at all; the rays are being fired into space and not hitting anything. What I tried doing was to adjust the jitter scale and samples to 0.42 and 16 respectively, that seems to solve it. Unfortunately, other frames e.g. 184, has some points having their rays hit, and some points don't..... What I would suggest is to create two sets of geometry; one for rendering, with the proper spacing, and oversized versions for the ray sop to collide with. HTHs!
