mrice
Hello houdini gurus, Is there a way to reference a chop channel's point attributes to do some operation in chops based on that attribute? i.e. if I have a channel for tx56 ty56 tz56, I'd like to modify those channels based on one of point 56's attributes. I can load the attribute in chops, but then I'm not sure how to sort everything out as it seems chops is organized by channels, not points. Many thanks! aracid
Hey Michael I think its a little hard to explain what u need to do specifically relating to your problem, however it would be a good idea to either post the scene - just so that anyone who opens it, can bash out a solution. another really good solution to understanding chops is taking a look at the chops tutorials off SESI's site http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com...&Itemid=132 http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com...&Itemid=216 http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com...&Itemid=216 hope this helps
mrice
Thanks, I figured out a way to do what I needed. I was looking at how I could remake an old 3dsmax plugin (ghosttrails), and it seems like there's infinite ways to do this in Houdini. But if you get a chance to look at this chops network and let me know if there's a simpler way to split the point attribute, I'd appreciate it Another thing about this network, any idea why it wont work if the particles arent cached? trails6.hipnc
