Bake and export from houdini to maya

well i am new to houdini but working on maya from last 7 years ...

as maya houdini or houdini maya is my workflow..

i just want to know that can we bake geometry in blendshpes like we do in maya ,and how to bake particles ...

caching is possibble ..if so then what format that both can read...

currently i m exploiting .fbx format ...but again how can i export in .fbx.. with baked geometry and particles...

i hope ppl here have got my point...

any suggestion or workflow that can help me out in this regard...

Hi there

To bake particles:

you can use the Rop SOP after ur POPNET, and specify the out file to be myparticles.$F4.obj

the problem with particles and blend shapes would be that u need consistent point counts for a blend shape.

so u can either write a clever script tat swaps out the files at each frame, which isnt actually very clever, or

try looking into realflow as an intemediate, u might need to stamp little spheres onto the particles, because u will just have single points in maya.

but the best would be a plugin that converts houdini particles into the pdc in maya,

and ur last option is using the filmbox exporter and that exports maya cache files.
