ripple solver

Hi All,

i'm trying to use the ripple solver to generate boat wakes. As far as I understand, the ripple solver works by comparing an initial position (one frame) to a rest position which is fine for generating ripples as they don't generally translate. I want to simulate a wake generated by a translating boat, is there a way to do so? My initial position is a grid with a "lump" whereas my rest position is a flat grid. By simply using the initial position, the ripples eventually die out and are generated from the same position.

What I would like is to move the lump across the grid and have the solver use this to generate the ripples/wakes. I even tried to give a velocity to points in my initial geometry but doesn't seem to be working...

any solution would be fine as long as the ripples move with my boat!
