chunkified
Hey, Sorry about the briefness of this post but I gotta go to work Attached is a hip file with my current dilema. (jump inside the "ground" geometry object). I've fractured a grid and would like to animate each piece "disturbing"/cracking, which will be linked to each piece's proximity to a metaball. (Sorry for the long winded explaination but if you check the metaball's animation you could pretty much imagine what I'd like to happen) Due to each piece not actually falling... I didn't think DOPS was the right way to go... Can anyone shed some light on how I'd achieve this please! Cheers Edited July 16, 2008 by chunkified

anakin78z
Ok, here's something to get you going. I took advantage of the primitives and did all the cracking before the extrude or divide. Basically I color the primitives using the metaball and a magnet sop, then rough up the edges and rotate the prims a bit using that color. It causes the ground to crack as the metaball expands. It's all in the orange network box. Hope this helps. -z room_env.hip

chunkified
thanks for all your help! was just what I needed! tis nice to see your way of roughing the edges also! the random sop in combination with the mountain sop did a similar thing. will post the animation when it's finished
