likforce
Hi, I found difficulties to assign displacement bound in Houdini, where is this parameter?? Also, if i wanna do displacement on a archived object, should i need to setup the displacement bound before archive the object?? if not, how can i assign displacement bound to it? Thx
kumpa
It is actually very easy. You have to have Property SHOP and propagate Displacement Bound parameter via Edit Rendernig Parameters (gear button on every node). You may also want to propagate some other parameters like Displacement space, True Displacement toggle etc.
likforce
Oh, I got it!!! Thx a lot, but is it the same method to add displacement bound when i assign to a archived instance object ?? i am now using 3delight and i generated a rib archive and wanna do displacement on it. Thx again
kumpa
If you are using 3delight then you have to add ridbound parameter instead. However, when rendering with air I found those parameters not working at all so aracid advised me to put stuff into pre-include field (see this)
likforce
I followed all these methods, I got everything works fine, Thx !! But i got one problem remain is that it seems always write out displacement bound to "0" when i try to save my object out as a rib archive. this is what the archived rib written : Attribute "displacementbound" "coordinatesystem" ["shader"] "sphere" [0] I have added the "ri_dbound" to my object, and no matter what i set, it always output this. Thx.
