jake
hi, i'm just doing some basic test animations and houdini never plays them back anywhere near real time. it's always much much faster. i have tried switching my global animation options from maintain realtime playback to play every frame, but neither slows it down. any suggestions of what i should try? i'd like to think my computer is too much of a beast, but i doubt this is the case. its a q9300 with 4 gigs of ram (but in 32 bit xp, so it's limited to 3 gigs) also, i'm running a ati 4850 with ati drivers 8.512 all in houdini 9.1.

Guest Swann
thanks. hey, how this ATI card is working with Houdini ? any problems ? Edited August 29, 2008 by SWANN
jake
in windows, no problems at all. however, as far as i can tell its linux drivers aren't as good. so it's sort of usable, but i'm waiting a release or two to go over full time. Jason
ps. push the button on far right on that button-strip and you'll see the option to: "Play Every Frame, but Never Faster Than Realtime" - this is one of the most useful modes, I think.
