cspears2002
I would like to learn Houdini fluids. However, when I run fluid sims on my laptop, I tend to crash Houdini Apprentice! Any advice on avoiding this problem? I would prefer to not buy a new computer!
digitallysane
I don't know about the specs of your laptop, but in my experience for memory intensive stuff (dynamics, compositing etc) you should use Linux (32 bit or, better, 64 bit if the processor and memory allow). There is lot of intensive stuff in Houdini like heavy fur, compositing, fluids which I can't even touch in Windows XP 32 bit but run with no problem on linux.
