Stremik
I've recently installed RH7.3 and Houdini. Now I'm trying to get an NC license but without success. It gives me an error saying "Invalid mashine name localhost.localdomain" I checked under "Server Information" tab in Houdini License Administrator and there it sayes that the License Server Host is, in fact, a "localhost.localdomain" Anyone can help me out here? Thanks!
TheUsualAlex
Hi, I am using RHL8-KDE at the moment, so I am not sure where RHL7.3. Try to see if you can find the "Network Configuration" of some sorts -- somewhere that you'd go to edit your ethernet informations. You should change the default "Hosts" to a name of your choice. Feel free to leave Aliases as they are, just change the name. Not sure if this will work, but hope it will lead you to the right direction. A. Stremik
It worked! Thank you, Alex! My GOD!. This is so exciting! I'm looking at Houdini on Linux right now. (I know. I'm a nutcase ) With Radeon 8500 and ATI's latest unified drivers set to "Houdini5.5" setting, Houdini is zooming. All right. I understand that I will probably encounter some problems later on but for now. Not a single Windows flick uppeared yet. I'm talking about stuff like switching between desktops which in Windows usually would take about 10 sec at least. In Linux it happens in an instant. Houdini also better handles more complex geometry, even in VEX shaded mode. Horraaaay!
