few_a_fx
Just starting to mess around with Physical Based Rendering. I'm trying to speed up the render time, does anyone know a way to make render time faster using PBR?
DaJuice
Hay there. Have you tried using a photon map for the Secondary GI Cache? I'm not 100% sure if it renders faster, but it does decrease noise and so indirectly improves rendertimes. Create a new mantra ROP and set the rendering mode to View-Dependant Photon Maps. In the PBR tab just clear the caustic map field, you don't need a caustic map written out, and you can leave the other settings at default. Click Render and a few moments later your photon map is done. Then back in your main mantra ROP (the one you actually render with) set the Secondary GI Cache to Photon Map. You should notice less grainy images now, and I haven't tested it but I believe they might render faster too.
