ventralstreams
Hello everybody.. newbie here... I am trying to reproduce an old volume fluid collision test I did, on H10 using the new upres feature. I checked out the sidefx tutorial on the pyrofx which introduces the upres feat. The thing is that the pyro example workflow on upres does not apply on a volume fluid project. The thing is that after applying the upres on the fluid container there is no upres fluid SHOP created to cache the upres. Has anyone tried upres on a volume fluid simulation to shed some light here? And another question.. I would like to know If it is possible to extract a polygon surface based on the surface of a SDF fog volume. I know.. I know.. with Houdini everything is possible Thank you.. Div
To 'convert' an SDF volume to a polygon mesh, you've just to append an IsoSurface sop after your SDF volume, and change the Implicit Function 's expression to $V ... Then increase the divisions to get enough detail....

The thing is that I cached the fluid intertior to file (bgeo sequence) and it gave me a fog volume as a result. Can I use it to get a detailed fluid surface? Thanx again! stevenong
You can use a Convert SOP and try to adjust the Volume Offset parameter to reduce the lego-ish look. Cheers! steven

I remember reading somewhere that the upres work flow lends itself very well to only smoke and fire. I don't think you can apply upres to grid based fluids. ventralstreams
Thanx guys. I really need some work on the fluids. Just as I got the hang of it they seem to have changed them quite a bit. I'll be waiting for some new tutorials to clear things up. Thanx again
