Z-fighting in shaded mode Geforce 4200 Ti

Loving this card for all apps including Houdini, but came across this problem which I'm not having in Maya or 3DS Max:

Bringing up the deer head on the wall file (as an example), turn on smooth shaded mode, and tumble...the deer head disappears and reappears through the wall. Frustrating.

I'm looking through the driver settings of the GeForce4 4200 Ti and not seeing anything to help.

Suggestions?

Is it a clipping plane problem? Try hitting 'd' in the viewer, change to the Culling page. Try moving the near/far clipping plane values. Posting a screen shot would help alot to see what you mean.
