borisb2 Posted July 1, 2009 Share Posted July 1, 2009 Hi there, I have a really challenging request for a effect. There are fiber-cables hanging from above with small spheres inside. The spheres just should lit up or be visible when an animated character is in that field. The character should also animate the cables a little bit (collisions or attached forces that drives the cables) so that the cables are not just hanging staticly. Currently my setup is half Maya, half houdini. I animated the particles in Maya (goals, scripting etc.) and exported the particles. In houdini I use copy to get the spheres on all particles and cookie to cut out all spheres that are outside the character. This works so far - just the realflow importer is not working at all with my houdini-version - just crashing all the time. That Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
michael Posted July 1, 2009 Share Posted July 1, 2009 use curves, and the wire deformer to animate them then, use the geometry of the character as a bounding volume in the group SOP to make a group of points - those are the points that light up.
