maphysart
I am studying the Gnomon rigid body dynamics DVD and have a problem. the high res model did not move according to the simplified model when using the object import node. I find the tip in the forum. But the methods inside still failed to work. Please give me some hints. Thanks a lot. In the attachment is hip file. test2.hip
maphysart
here is discussion about the obj import. http://forums.odforce.net/index.php?showtopic=5307 I tried according to this topic. But failed. The only difference between the hip file and mine is that I copied along the path. thanks for your suggestions.
anim
...The only difference between the hip file and mine is that I copied along the path. ... yes, one minor difference is pretty much all it takes to screw up everything but seriously there is more differences than you may think you are copying dominos to curve on SOP level then you are using RBD fracture object to import the groups as rbd objects this way all domino pieces will have the same center and that's the reason for DopImport importing all the objects on the same spot so either you copy hi res dominos on the same curve and use dopimport on result groups or take a closer look at the file you think is almost the same as yours notice that the dominos are imported to DOPs as RBD point object which is the way to go look at attachment to see your file modified and one more thing never use "Use Deforming Geometry" checkbox on your RBD objects unless you really need to so only if the geometry is deforming over time(and you need it to be considered for simulation) or if you really want your simulation to take hours instead of minutes test2_fix.hip
maphysart
Thank you for your help. I try both methods you suggest. Both of them works. Great. And your modified version is more concise and directly. I prefer to use rbd point in the future. Yes, as what you said, the difference is not obvious but big enough. Besides, I should turn off the deforming the geometry option. it becomes really faster. thanks again.
