blackchicken
Hello Im creating little shot with my ceylon raider from battlestar galactica, my first model done in houdini some times ago, and have some problem with displacement, camera slightly move, and mountains flickering, first thing is when I use basic displace or reflective displace there is some bug with tiling colour texture, displace works good but colour has no effect to UVs, so I create standart decal material add displace, properities with bound and true displace, now colour texture works great but there is little flickering in displace I thing. Just look at the scene, maebye some bad setting when I create displace? or I dont know. Just change textures in material I resave it as jpg, I add 4 frames to see flickering effect, thanks a lot...BC.... help_displace.zip
Ezz
Im not 100% sure, but it could be related to fact that your shader hasnt a rest position. Or try and increase your pixelsample in the render. Do a search on "rest position" and see if there is any help. Erik
blackchicken
thanks for reply, but rest didnt help. 2 problems found. First is that my geometry dont like mantra subdivision ON, so I use subdivide SOP, solved, second problem is still with displacement, compare two images from sequence, use houdini basic displacement(displacement map fits ok, but still problem with colour, in wievport loks good, but in render is tilled n times), but displacement still flickering. Displace is -6, mebye this is problem for mantra thanks a lot all of you....BC.... mountains_clay.zip
rd1010
In my experience the flickering and problems with the displacement are usually related to the shader quality.. try incresing that for the object and it should fix it.
