Unik
Hey guys... I was wondering that in the "Math operator" what is the difference between "Combine Channel" and "Combine CHOPS"... both seems to so the same thing...
edward
http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini10.0/nodes/chop/math Combine ChannelsA menu of operations that is performed between the channels of a single input CHOP, for each input. Combine CHOPs A menu of operations that is performed between the input CHOPs, combining several CHOPs into one.
Unik
Does that means combine CHOPS will combine two or more CHOP networks... but combine Channels will combine operators of the same CHOPnet....
edward
Combine CHOPs will combine channels across two or more CHOP nodes
Unik
okay...but what should I do in a case like this... I mean which one is appropriate?? Edited August 13, 2009 by Unik
edward
Er, well, it depends on what you want to do. Assuming that you want to combine the two input CHOPs in some way, then yes, use Combine CHOPs.
Unik
ahh... okay... actually both of them were working... so i was not not sure to use which one but thanxx for you reply...
edward
I think what happens is that if you do combine channels AND combine chops, then it will first combine the channels (in each individual input?) and after that, it does the combine chops operation. Unik
but it will just have a single chop/channel whatever after combining geometry and wave... there it will combine chops..right??? and then it will be just a single multiplied channel wave... one channel.. one chop... i guess i m still confused
Unik
I don't know if I should post it here or should I use some other thread... but maybe these are related... http://rapidshare.com/files/266813382/Unik.3620.hip.html the spheres are supposed to come on the line in the form of a wave... but something's wrong..maybe in the CHOPnet.. maybe you could figure it out... edward
Do an "add", not "multiply" in the Combine CHOPs.
Unik
hey thanks... I got the spheres on a wave..but they are not animating ...
edward
Well, you have to change something so that it animates in time, like putting $T in the Phase parameter for example.
