michael
decide what it looks like model it shade it rig it animate it light it render it + effects (fire etc) each of these things is a complex, often difficult, time consuming process... what, specifically, do you want help with? pclaes
It is good to have a goal to work towards, but realize that what you want to do (especially realism) will take a serious amount of time. There is no easy solution to this. Michael described the steps. Start by looking into polygon modeling and search the forums for posts that cover some of the modeling process - and above all play with the various nodes and read their help cards. - When you get a bit bored of modeling you could look into a bit of effects (particles or fluids) or start rigging a simple object. - There is training material on 3dbuzz covering some of the rigging process and more introductory tutorials to Houdini as well. - These is training material on the sidefx website covering some of the effects related topics. - There are files on the exchange that will give you examples of some of the effects setups developed by other users... There are also a lot of example hip files here on odforce scattered throughout the various sub-forums. Don't worry about asking questions, but please do a search on the forum first as there is a very high chance that your question has already been asked before. Good luck with the project! michael
you have to start at the beginning. I did a google search using "dragon modeling tutorial" and found this: http://tutorialscentral.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=28 it's for Maya but the principles will be exactly the same. you really should go through the tutorials within the Houdini documentation and the ones on the Side Effects site before jumping into a project that is beyond your ability...if you're not able to model simple objects etc then how do you expect to model something as complex as a dragon?
