  1. i want to break the smooth, mashroom like shape off, when the mashroom shape get rough enough, stop break. my solution is to add a Gasdisturb to simulation, to get rid of the mashroom like shape, and the strength of Gasdisturb decays with temperature. But there's a problem: when Gas disturb is not controled by temperature field, the strength off Gas distrub is decay from blank area to the area which density is 0.05,as the picture 1 When Gas disturb is controled by temperature field, distribution of strength is as picture2 i think it is because The outermost layer of the smoke, that is, the junction of the smoke and the vacuum area, has a low-temperature area.As a result, when the temperature is used as the control field of gas disturbance, the outermost layer of smoke is very little affected by the disturbance, so that the mushroom head cannot be broken. test.hip
  2. Hello, Following a tutorial about dynamic cloud simulation i get weird result applying Gas Disturbance operator since in houdini 18.5 have different parameter and totally different behaviour that what showed in the course (recorded in H17.5.258 ), any hint on how to set it so it behave like older version? In specific: Binding have not "Disturb field is vector field" option "Cutoff" parm in Disturb setting mode "Block based" have now a lot of new parameter realted to noise that doesn't exist in older version Control setting doesn't have "Control influence " parm Thnks!!
  3. Hi there, First time post here. I'm relative new to Houdini and I really love already it but there are some things that (probably) are really simple but I just can't figure out. I must admit that I have very little experience in expressions and python (which I'm already working on) but for something I'm currently working on I'd hope to have some help before I get proficient enough in that. I have a volume source which emits in the Y axis and I wanna use the gas disturb fields but only on the voxels that are being emitted for the first second, after that I want other microsolvers that I have in the scene to take over. What kind of expression should I use for that? Should I first add some kind of life-attribute and then refer to that or is it much simpler? I looked at the local variables in the gas disturb microsolver but as far as I can tell they all refer to the simulation step time which is in the beginning of the whole simulation. Some help ore pointers are really appreciated. Thanks!
