Cigarette smoke tutorial

I came across the following tutorial to create a cigarette smoke:

To sum it up very briefly, points are advected from a basic pyro simulation, then shaded and rendered.

I am very new to Houdini, still trying to figure out its logic. My question is, what is the reason behind not simulating the cigarette smoke entirely in PyroFx and going through points instead ?
