  1. Rising Sun Pictures is currently seeking experienced Look Dev / Shader Writers with Houdini experience, to join our Shading & Look Development teams. Employment period: Immediate start through to 2014 to March 2015. Location: Adelaide, Australia. This position is open to local and international applicants. Position Overview Working across a number of live action projects, Shader Writers will be required to create customised, photorealistic 3d surfaces for a range of assets including characters, props, and environments. Applicants presenting photo realistic work will be reviewed and responded to with priority. Your previously held positions are likely to have included Senior Texture Artist, Lighting TD, Shader Writer, etc. You have previously created technical and aesthetic shading solutions with Houdini Vector Expressions [VEX]. Responsibilities Develop complex VEX shader networks that meet the creative & technical brief. Adjust existing shaders as required by sequence supervisors and leads. Assemble shaders & looks in Houdini's VOPS. Work with lighters to ensure shaders can be rendered without issue. Ensure every shader you create meets the requirements of users downstream. Regularly demonstrate your work in progress. Review your work prior to submission, ensuring it hits creative and technical notes, adjusting where necessary. Strong understanding of colour/bit depth/resolution and how they affect the shader process. Actively mentor and develop less experienced team members. Promote a collaborative and enjoyable workplace influencing morale, fostering purposeful discussion and positive work ethic. Required Skills and Experience Minimum 2-4 years shading experience. Strong experience with Physically Based Rendering. Expert user of Houdini and Mantra. Experience creating CVEX shaders for PBR & MicroPoly mode. Some exposure with Photoshop, Nuke, Mari, Z-Brush & Mudbox is desirable, but not essential. Note: RSP operates in a Linux system environment. Some pipeline and shell scripting experience. Maintain a calm and professional demeanour in a delivery focused work environment. Real world understanding of key principles in colour & light. Expert organisational and time-management skills.
