TheUsualAlex
Hey, OK, I must have done something wrong. After I capture the geo (in Char. Tools), I though I am supposed to set a keyframe on the Capture SOP's "Capture Frame". But nooo... upon loading, houdini recooked....... Aren't there any better system than this...? Why do we have to remember to set a keyframe to hold the capture in place...? :/ A.

anakin78z
I swear Sesi should make this an easy feature somehow: Whenever you're done with your weighting, SAVE OUT THE GEOMETRY!!!! I can't tell you how many times I had my weighting all set up great, and worked with the file for a week, then opened it up and BAM!, it's all screwed up, because I changed some channel somewhere. Saving out the geometry is the easiest and safest way to ensure your weighting doesn't change. The good thing is you can still paint/edit/whatever your capture, and then save out again. -Jens
old school
Or just lock your capture SOP.
anakin78z
Or just lock your capture SOP. But then you end up with big hip files, and nobody likes that
NatXotic
Hi there, So you export the captured geometry, the reimport it into your hipfile, with the rig as new geo-object->File and append the deform node? that's how you would do it? I am curious, atm i am painting my weights. Cheers.

stu
...or you can save the capture data and tell the capture SOP to use that file instead of doing a recook on the capture frame, but saving the entire geometry is probably easier. stu
