reflection pass pbr

Recommended Posts

hey,

i'm shure there is already a lot info bout this in the forum but i could not find it so far ... i think all of the materials in my scene are correctly set up for PBR ... the beautypass shows both specular and reflections ... seperating specular with an extraimage plane works fine (with PBR direct glossy?...not specular??) but how to go for reflections ? ... PBR direkt specular gives me a black image.combined variable either.

i ve red reflections and specularity are the same in PBR? so why i only get the specularity on the glossy plane ? an none of the dropdownvaiables give me reflections?

(maybe relevant: the most important reflections in the scenes come from a hdr on a sphere(phantom) like stated above they are fine in my beautypass)

sorry but no logic here for me

thx

edit: ading "generate surface export" into the mantra rop makes the image render 10 times longer :)? and no usable reflectionpass

here are test - beauty and pushed up spec ..... the reflections ore specular however called within PBR from my scenelights are in the glossypass but the reflections of my HDR are not... could this have something to do with lightranges? ...

an additional question about reflections with mantra ad pbr:

i'm wondering how the divisioncount of a flat surface behaves in relation to reflection sharpness... a higher polycount on flat surfaces makes the reflections much more diffuse ?! could anyone give me some technical background why mantra behaves like that. the attatched images show subdivisionlevel 2 (very diffuse) and 1(sharper). both renders have the exact same lightsetup, creaseweight for the obj ad overall scenesettings

(render as subdivision is NOT checked)... the lower poly looks more interpolated ore rounded so does it show reflections from more angels ?

sorry for mixing up topics in every second post but mantra especially PBR confuses me completly !! :)

i ve you re interested you could also check my other posts about pbr... fpr example "polyartefacts with high tesselations PBR"

greets

Lucas
