ykcosmo
anyone use Houdini on 27 inch iMAC ? How do you think of it ?
jdabel
I think this is the very best (MAC) solution. The only problem is: sometimes I have to search for the cursor, and yes use MagicPrefs for the MMB. I am using an i7 iMac with 8GB RAM and Apprentice HD (though there is no use of all processors I think).
malexander
The 27" iMac also uses ATI graphics, which on the Mac are more stable than the current Nvidia drivers. Edit: and minutes later I found this link on Apple's updated iMac's and Mac Pro's.

Lutze
haha, thanks guys.... I plan to buy an 27inch i7 iMac too. How does it perform with Houdini. Any experience to share with larger scenes? Sven
ykcosmo
I plan to buy an 27inch i7 iMac too. How does it perform with Houdini. Any experience to share with larger scenes? Sven I bought one recently. It is very nice ! Houdini on 27 inch monitor is very amazing ! But you have to disable the new advanced GL (edit the environment var) and update the system to the newest version. The simulation is very fast on the 27inch imac. BTW, I bought the i5 iMac not i7, I don't think I need the extra speed with spending more $299. If you have enough $, I suggest you to buy mac pro and get two 30inch monitors, one for viewport and tree view, the other for network view and parameters,etc..........It is good to see nodes clear and a big tree or character on the big monitor !!!. Good luck !!!! Edited September 16, 2010 by ykcosmo
