dekerd
I downloaded HOT & have spent nearly all day tring to install the damn thing. I went to the documentation on the web page & the instructions just aren't specific enough, I don't want to sound dumb but the instructions take me to Environment Variables & say that I have to set a HOUDINI_PATH & I have to put the dlls folder into the PATH Environment Variable etc., which I don't understand. I've tried tons of combinations but to no avail. (the download is hotbin_win64_H10.0.465_1.0rc8) I'd really appreciate it if someone could guide me step by step. If you look at the attachment, do I have to insert anything in the Variable name & value boxes? If, eventually, I get it installed, how do I open it in Maya 2011? (My system is Windows 7 64). Please could someone help because I've got a pretty tight deadline - also, I can't use Maya's default ocean 'cos it won't render in Vray. Cheers. hopbin9
HOT will not work with Maya. OTL files can only be read by Houdini. I think an OTL file is just a compiled VEX script. So if your expectation is to use this with Maya, then I'd give up now
hopbin9
Apparently, there is a build of HOT for Maya. I was actually searching for information on how to tell how long the last render took to complete in Houdini (i.e. if someone can tell me, please do). dekerd
Thanks for your reply, yep there is a HOT at http://thefx.org/brain/index.php?/topic/58-hot-ocean-tool-for-maya/ Also, if you scroll down a bit on the page, there's a part where it says "Try this link" http://www.gruppe-we...tOcean_Maya.rar It's pretty excellent, I downloaded it & in the deformer folder there are great instructions on read me txt. Added to the fact that the tuturial is a blessing. Cheers Edited September 9, 2010 by dekerd
cosku
You can open a "Render Scheduler" pane, and uncheck "clear completed jobs" there. Apparently, there is a build of HOT for Maya.
