PhasmaCeritus
Hi, I was hoping that somebody could post an example of how to export self shadow (ray traced shadows) image plane or mantra pass from Mantra Surface shader in H11. It was mentioned in the following forum that one of the options is to set up an luminance loop but it was too complicated for me to understand what Michael is talking about without having an example to look at so please share if you have done something like that in the past. PS My objects are opacity map cut-outs if that makes any difference. Thanks Edited December 30, 2010 by PhasmaCeritus
Macha
The easiest way is to use the pre-made shadow and noshadow image planes available when rendering PBR. Perhaps that is good enough for you?

Perhaps that is good enough for you? Thanks for the replay, hm I am still a bit confused how to set it up. I tried adding shadow, noshadow as a VEX (float / vector) Variable on mantra but dint get any data on those planes when rendered with ray-trace or PBR. Please let me know what I am doing wrong. Thanks PS I am newbie on mantra rendering

PhasmaCeritus
Try this Thanks a lot Marc that exactly what I needed, just one more question how to get the same results rendering with just a ray-trace and not PBR
Macha
how to get the same results rendering with just a ray-trace and not PBR I think you are back to the original problem then. BTW, don't be afraid of PBR. It's fast and good.

It's fast and good. but I am a bit afraid since i am not that good in building materials compatible with PBR (not all of my obj in the scene have standard mat) thanks anyway, its definitely a plan B
