chazfest
Hi all, Any ideas how to achieve (or even to begin to achieve) the effect used at the very start of the Houdini 2010 demo reel? It looks kinda sticky, as opposed to the flowing liquid I always end up with (not complaining ) And I've no idea how it forms the letters and logo of the Houdini title. Would love to find out. Thanks in advance. Chaz

There is a few ways you can try to get the letters buy you can ty using text or trace

kwl
take a look at this tutorial: http://vimeo.com/20415443 http://vimeo.com/20415990 Currently my friend and i are trying to get our flip fluid emitter to follow the font/text just like in the Houdini Reel video. So we were thinking 2 parts - First is to procedurally scan the font/text then create a curve route for the emitter - Second is to map the XYZ values onto the flip fluid emitter dop At first we thought path object will work for the emitter to follow the curve but path object value is a 1 size float but the emitter needs a xyz vector value. The path object values is also reflecting the percentage of the route, is there a way to access inside the path object to see the vector values, so we can channel reference in to our emitter. For the curve part we tried creating points centroid of the pr imitive faces then connecting them with a add node to form a curve but it still doesn't form the words nicely due the lack of faces on the font. Dividing the font to add more faces made it very messy also. We have both tried, researched on a lot of methods but cant seem to get it, do you have any other ideas or tips so that the fluid emitter will follow the text out line, like the one in the Houdini reel . test14c.hipnc
