Strouble with Updating Velocity

Hey everyone.

I've created a simple scene here. Particles are being emitted from a sphere, they have gravity affecting their velocity and they're being snapped to the surface with a VOPPOP...

Trouble is the velocity is not updating based on it's path, I guess what I'm after is a velocity with it's current direction, pointing down the surface at 90 degrees to the normal...

Anyone know an efficient way of getting my velocities to behave how I want?
