edward Posted July 24, 2011 Share Posted July 24, 2011 AMD64 is the x86 64-bit instruction invented by AMD. Intel later adopted it for their 64-bit x86 CPUs as well. So no, you do NOT need an AMD CPU. You probably didn't install the 64-bit compiler with Visual Studio 2005. It's not enabled by default. You must go through the Custom install and enable it.
