bake a texure as a sphere

In Vue there's an option to render out the scene as spherical 180 degree view, something that can then be used as an HDR image. Is this possible in Houdini? I know there's a way to bake out a texture given some geometry and a UV map, but is there a way to get the scene it self onto the texture map? Any suggestions?
