pbowmar
VHUG 2012.01 Meeting: Wed Feb 22th @ Method Studios Vancouver (50 2nd Ave West) - 7:00 p.m. This is not a trick! We have enough for presenters for another year of VHUG for 2012. Thanks to all the volunteer presenters! The first session will be at Method Studios, formerly CIS, formerly Rainmaker. Jacob Clark and Koen Vroeijenstijn (Image Engine) will present Procedural Breaking Glass from The Thing and The Power of Point Clouds, respectively. Doors will be open from 6:45 to 7:00 p.m. sharp (only) - don't be late or you'll be stuck outside trying to call someone's cell to let you in. We're looking forward to getting the VHUGers back together and seeing activity in the group once again. Please spread the word to other local Houdini Users and have them join the Odforce forum or Facebook group. As usual, everyone is encouraged to bring a demo, trick or tip to share in Houdini on a USB stick, and they will likely be some VHUGers going for drinks afterwards nearby. Please let Peter Bowmar or Leo know in advance if you can so they can help you get it loaded and set up though.
gaurav
Are these presentations going to be recorded and posted someplace for folks in remote locations. It will be great to have so. On the other hand, i am sure lot of us will be interested and ready to split the cost of video recordings + logistics involved it getting to do so.Specially for sessions like these. pbowmar
Sorry guys, it's unlikely. The reasons are: -legal: We're in a Deluxe theatre, which has strict rules on recordings being made regardless of the event. Plus, if anyone is from a VFX studio (and we almost all are) there gets to be a grey area of what is proprietary info and what isn't. -time: me, Leo and most of the VHUG presenters and organizers work full-time and (at least in my case) have kids etc. The amount of time needed to just organize VHUG let alone record it is almost insurmountable. The reason there wasn't a 2011 VHUG is mostly because Leo and I were too busy. I encourage you to organize your own HUG meetings in your area! Cheers, Peter B
