dyei nightmare
i am curious on how to aproach these effects in this video of objects disintegrating on cubes, looks like voronoi but with cubic shaping instead of worley noise. basically i wanna get some directions to aproach these effects. the wires growing in defined shapes is another thing that blows my mind, is something like wires growing with path finding algorithm? how could i aproach these effects? anupamd
The cubes thing: pretty standard houdini pyro with advected particles, then copysop with cubes. The wires thing is carve sop with wire sop. See attached examples WIRE_SOP_EXAMPLE.hip advect_particles.hip

debris
Just FYI, all the custom tools originally developed by Eric Mootz for this commercial are now available here: http://www.mootzoid.com/wb/pages/softimagexsi/emtopolizer.php There's also a video over there which might give you some further ideas on how to achieve these effects in Houdini.
