magneto
Hi, Whenever I start Houdini, the viewport scene renderer is set to H11. Is this the new default for now? Can I override it to use OpenGL 3.2? Because it reverts back after restarting it. Thanks
malexander
The default is GL3 for all hardware GL implementations capable of GL3.2 (excluding Nvidia 195/197 series, which had severe bugs, and OSX, which implemented a separate GL3 driver from its GL2 driver). You get GL1 for Linux/Mesa, and H11 for Windows software rendering. If you save the preference as GL3 in Main Prefs > Viewport, and Accept, it should save itself to $HOME/houdini12.1/houdini.pref (glrenderer.val) and be restored upon next startup. This value is not saved to a .hip file.
magneto
Thanks Mark, now it works. Not sure what the problem was, because the pref file had "GL3" value. But I also switched to the latest build now, so maybe this helped too.
