dark_cry
Hey guys, i watched some videos about rayfire. In fact it has great fracture tool. I like wood fracture. I believe in houdini it's possible to build same fx. I'm not talking about the fracture itself, but adding some detail to inside points. Here my setup, it works not bad, but have some problems. The setup is pretty simple. I did it in sop level but same thing could be done in shops. Would be great if someone could offer more relieble method. woodFracture.hip
lukeiamyourfather
This is another method, use the Voronoi fracturing nodes but scale the object before and after the break to get the elongated pieces. http://www.digitaltutors.com/lesson/7102-Fracturing-objects-with-grain-like-wood The example in the video is fairly simple but you could take the concept and run with it. lukeiamyourfather
Here's a non-commercial scene file demonstrating what I was talking about in the last post. The more points you add the finer the grain will be. woodBreaking.hipnc
3__
see attached. Luke's method is preferable if you want to animate specific breakage, rather than spewing random debris into a sim... woodFracture_8n.hipnc
