Muhammad Junaid Baig
Hi, I need to fill the mesh with curves. Basically I have a mesh of beard and I want to fill that with curves and and export that back to Maya for other operations. As It is very clear that I want the curves to respect the flow of mesh and somehow inherit the polygon flow. I was trying to do that with copy sop but then I can't deform curves with respect to mesh. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
Muhammad Junaid Baig
Can we start some discussion on it, even if we don't have an answer yet? Maybe we can figure it out.
mangi
Hi Muhammad, From your explanation, it is quite difficult to actually get an idea of what you are trying to achieve. Put up a basic scene so we can get a better idea, if you can okay. From you explanation, it seem to me that you are trying to copy curve on a mesh and then export it back to maya ?? We need some details. cheers Mangi
Muhammad Junaid Baig
Hi Mangi. Thanks for getting back. I've a file attached here in which there are two outputs from one object. One is bound and one is growth. What I want is, just like hair system, curves grow on growth polys but should never exit the bounds object, while they should follow the surface direction. For example, the curves grow and growth group polys and follow the surface on +Z direction. I hope I'm clear in explanation. Thanks, hairTest_01.hip
mangi
Do you want to copy along the +z normals ? can you put up the full test file , and maybe it can be more clear. it´s hard to figure out what you are really after. At least on this side. hairTest_01_points.hip Edited September 29, 2013 by mangi
yongbin
Maybe you want "hairfram" style control of fur? My example is simple, rayhit way of doing that. But I think real hairfarm style growth is much more complicate than this. Hope this helps. hairTest_01.with_bounds.hipnc

Muhammad Junaid Baig
Hi, Thanks for giving it a try and providing a houdini file. Yes this is what I want in terms of growth. But as far as styling is concerned, let me post some more usable geometry file as suggested by Mangi. Thanks,
