maxpayne
Hello everyone. A have a problem with sph fluids. My particles merge to ropes instead of become drops. How can I avoid it ? Does Houdini calculate air resistance ? https://vimeo.com/75905315
lukeiamyourfather
No, Houdini doesn't calculate the air around the fluid, but this is possible to do. The surface tension is causing the elongated shapes. Reducing the surface tension will cause the fluid to spread out more instead of forming a rope or the resolution could be increased and the fluid would form more natural thin splashes and droplets. Something else to check out is the FLIP solver in Houdini. For most fluid simulations it performs much better (but SPH is still better for some effects). maxpayne
Unfortunately it didn't solve the problem. It's just produced a lot of small ropes.
