lisux
Hi all I'm trying to test the new raytracing engine of the prman 11.0 with Houdini. I've made alight shader that uses the gather function to calculate occlussion. The problem is that i need to put the Attribute visibility int trace to 1 in order that the object is taken in rreay calculations. How can i touch this attribute in Houdini???? to pass it to renderman. I've tryied in the RenderMan ROP paramerters to put the Visible Trace parameter in Specific tab to 1, but it not works, the trace attribute of the objets are still 0. Tweaking the visibility parameters are basic for prman raytracing so i think there would be a way to touch them under Houdini. athomas
you could write a simple rib file where you set the parameter and use this file in the pre-include render-tab in object mode.
lisux
Thanks athomas, it works fine The problem i see in using this method is that it isn't very practical in a production enviroment, i think that houdini needs a graphical method in order to set the different attributes that the objects have in prman, a specific section for prman attributes is needed in obejct render tab. Thanks for all
athomas
actually we're using it for quite some time in production, you just need to keep track of your rib, but I'm glad it helped andre
