Project 2d pyro to uv space render?

Can anyone explain how this can be done, i have a 2d pyro sim that i want to project onto the uv space of a geometry and then render that out as a texture to later use as a layer ontop of the original texture, my only concern is matching the uvspace upon render, never have done this before in houdini and i figure it be something similar to baking in maya/max
