Is that limited to windows or are we talking all platforms?

"This contains eight billion transistors" and a 32 bit driver limiting OpenCL to 4GB :)

can anyone answer this?

and is this truly a fact? cause that would be a dealbreaker for me!!!

Look for address_bits

http://videocardz.com/55081/nvidia-geforce-gtx-titan-x-opencl-performance-leaks-out

"

NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X OpenCL Name Value address_bits 32 compiler_available 1 double_fp_config CL_FP_DENORM CL_FP_INF_NAN CL_FP_ROUND_TO_NEAREST CL_FP_ROUND_TO_ZERO CL_FP_ROUND_TO_INF CL_FP_FMA driver_version 347.84"

Is this available for Linux?

With 349.16.0.0 driver Houdini detects

Device Address Bits       64

Global Memory             12287 MB

on Titan X card. Is there any way to check if it is fully supported or just 4GB of it?

Thanks!

There is OpenCL Smoke example in the help:

http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini14.0/examples/nodes/dop/smokeobject/OpenCL

Run this with high enough resolution and watch gpu vram consuption. On older NVidia cards it raised error (in H13.0.3xx) when it hit the 4GB ram limit in the drivers (was a litttle bit below 4 GB for nvidia gpus (that is somehere around 60 mil voxels), exact value depends on the card model and how much gpu ram is used elsewhere (hires monitors, other application consuming gpu resources etc.))

Thanks!

I tested it with different resolutions (333³ , 400³ , 500³ , 1000³) and it seems to work, but when simulating above 64M voxels cached frames are the same as the first one.

So I assume that there is still some limitation.

At least it didn't crashed (:

Note: Flat Shaded bug is still present fixed in Houdini 14.0.344.
