eetu Posted April 14, 2014 Share Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) It is mathematically convenient to store the velocities and densities/pressures in different locations, as then you can use central differences to get the differential of one in the location of the other. This is called a MAC stggered grid, you can google for it, but the best explanation I've ran into is in Bridson's book.
