Cloth and Hair

The short answer is wait for H7.5/8 to come out.

You can build hair at the moment, using a number of methods, there is no "hair" sop as such, but animating with dynamics isn't there yet. Basically any curve or line can be rendered with mantra if you add a width attribute to it, so just build your gair as a bunch of curves, or grow it with particles. You could also check out adding the hair shader on top of this to get you started.

I'm currently working on a bunch of otls that I'll post when finished, that will let you build hair and style it, designed for making long hair but not animating it.

If you happen to be going to Siggraph I think you might see Sesi announce cloth sim and a few other goodies, but if you can't wait you would have to hack it somehow.
