dpap
Hi all ! Why does the fluid refractions dont work in the areas close to the floor? When I move it higher in pic.2 it seems fine. The problem is that I want it really close to the floor and not skyhigh... Why is this happening? Thanks. refraction hip.rar
Skybar
Can't open .rar at work, sorry. But do you have Faux Caustics turned on?
dpap
Thanks David! Turning on Faux Caustics helped a lot ! Refraction angle=0 but it t still looks wierd and fuzzy ... I played around with raytrace bias as well but no change. Any other ideas why this looks so wrong? I change the geo so that the .hip file is smaller refraction 2.hip
Skybar
I'd set the IOR to a bit more realistic for a liquid, like 1.33. You have 3. Also turn on Fresnel Blending. I wouldn't set the Faux Caustics to 0/0 either, start off with 0/1. On your mantra ROP also set your Diffuse Limit to 1. Do all this and it seems to look a lot better already. gui
In the mantra output, in the "properties/shading" tab, try to set "allowable paths" to "all paths".
dpap
Thanks guys! I followed all of your advice and I got something like pic. 3i which definitely has no signs of the original problem but is SO washed out! After some test I realized that it was the environment light that meshes things up... When I turn off the environment light and use a Spot light instead (everything else is the same) I get pic. 3ii So the the question now is a little bit away from the initial topic..but what's going wrong when I use the env Light? I tried to use an HDRI but still comes out washed out. Is this a Linear Workflow thing ? refraction 3.hip Edited October 4, 2014 by dpap
Guest tar
Nothing's is 'wrong' with the env light. Try placing a torus and you'll see that the environment light is working fine. Perhaps you are expecting something else of the env light?
