ieatvfx
Hi Im doing some tests rendering with hdri lighting and reflections and shadows. Using the shadow matte shader to catch the shadows however the geometry is shown in the reflections in other objects like chrome. Something like placing a car onto the background with full reflected environment. How do I keep the shadow alpha and remove the catching shadow geometry in the reflections. shapes renders.hipnc Edited December 17, 2014 by ieatvfx
dennis.albus
You could use a rayswitch to change the opacity to {0,0,0} for reflection rays. http://forums.odforce.net/topic/19041-pbr-rayswitch/?hl=rayswitch I don't have Houdini in front of me right now, but I guess you could also just simply change the opacity based on the output of an isshadowray VOP. Does this solve your problem?

SreckoM
I also have issue with this. I need object not to be visible in reflections. And if I add -reflect in Render visibility I see shadow of that object in reflection. Here is screenshot http://d.pr/i/11Hta . What I need is this http://d.pr/i/Ay4X , and I get that by adding -shadow, but than again I need that object to cast shadow ... Is this supposed to work like this, in Blender I get what I expect ?
