Juzwa
Hi, I've decided to start doing modelling in houdini as well to learn H faster. Yesterday I've installeg H14 and I've noticed many changes. So I start this thead to keep all my question in one place (regarding modelling stuff). So.... 1) How can I make a loop selecion? I believe in H13 it was 'L' or 'I' shortcut for edges. It does not work in H14, 2) How can I remove an edge loop without deleting polygons?

Guest mantragora
1. Watch this => https://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3023&Itemid=404 2. If you have some suggestions (read: if you think the new shortcuts are bad), jump in into this topic and shout it loud! => http://forums.odforce.net/topic/21864-houdini-14-hotkeys-discussion-forked-from-h14-announcement-thread/
ayidi
Tip: read the messages in the viewport: 2) Select the edge loop and press delete
Juzwa
Sorry for sucha late response, but thanks guys, this is very helpful! I'm having some problems with viewport, the messages at the bottom use to dissapear after some time. Maybe this can be changes somewhere in the settings. As for removing edges: pressing delete on selected edges removes points as well, which leads to deleted polygons. I'm rather looking for a tool like in maya (delete edges) and max (ctrl + backspace)

Juzwa
Hi! I have a new question: How can I extrude my object to get some thickness? I have tried extrude SOP and its terrible. The extruded and original geometry splits into individual faces, can't fix that with any setting. Fuse doesn't help
iamyog
polyExtrudeSOP with Keep Points Shared as Average Positions ?
Juzwa
unfortunately polyExtrude is even wors. Is extruding along some strange directions, even though my normals are correct
iamyog
Should work on a geometry with correct topology. Can you upload an example file ?
Juzwa
My topology is not correct. I use convertVDB to create a proxy geometry for a tyre temp.hip Edited February 23, 2015 by Juzwa
