ScottF
Chicago Rot VFX Posting – March 29th, 2015 We are nearing completion of our independently produced feature film, Chicago Rot, and are looking to add another full-time Houdini Indie artist to tackle some of our more demanding shots. This is a paid gig that we estimate to last around 2 weeks, and we are looking for people that can start immediately. Our previous artist suffered a family emergency, so we are looking for a replacement ASAP to hit a May deadline. You can watch our trailer and learn more about the film at our website – chicagorot.com – but to give you some idea of where we are at, the film is picture locked and all of the shots in question are guaranteed to be in the film. We have a total of 26 shots that need work done, the vast majority of which range from 16-36 frames total. The workload consists of a variety of wide, medium, and close-up shots that need a ball lightning effect & smoke applied to them. The wide shots will involve seeing the entire setup, but many of the medium and close-up shots will only involve creating a lightning tendril that is tethered to our main character. Our lead VFX artist has already built the tools necessary to generate the effects in Houdini Indie, so the work will involve camera tracking the shot to place the lightning in a specified area that is consistent across all shots, generating the lightning and smoke passes, and exporting the EXRs for our compositing team to then properly integrate with the plate. 4 of the shots will also involve some animation to make the ball lightning/lightning tendrils shoot forward as an attack. As the project was built in Houdini Indie, we do require the freelancer to have their own, legitimate copy of Houdini Indie please. Please let us know if you're interested, available, and what your rate would be - a flat rate please. We can provide you samples of the shots for reference and any other information you might need to make such a determination. Email to dorian.weinzimmer@gmail.com and scott@smfstudio.com Thank you very much for your interest, and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions!
