microdot
Hi all, I'm an über noob. I recently made a basic flip tank fluid sim of a logo rising up out of the water. I made the geo as a static object and had animated the geo w transform in SOP. That worked ok, but it was suggested to me to try the animation in DOPs with position to increase stability. I set that up but for some reason the animation curve is there, but it doesn't move in VP. Any ideas why that is? Also every time I'm in DOPs my geo disappears in the VP as well. Dunno why. I attached a screengrab, I think pos is in the right spot, but not sure. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Skybar
That's the strangest thing I've ever heard. Why would you animate it in DOPs? That makes no sense at all. Disregard what that person said. Animating with a Transform SOP like you did is good for deforming geometry, it will recalculate the collision volume for every frame so it can be a bit slow. If you don't have deforming geometry (it only translates), it is much better to animate that on the Object level. It will then only have to calculate the collison volume once, and then it simply translates that.
microdot
Hmm, yeah. Not sure since I have little frame of ref, but makes sense, plus it wasn't showing up. I'll keep tweaking, thx for reply.
