neeraj
hi, a very beginner level question... i am trying to create a logo with text shaped like being projected onto a torus. 1. used ray sop to project a grid onto a torus 2. used lattice to shape font with grid onto torus However as i extrude the font then, i get weird results like these. Kindly anyone suggest where am i going wrong.
Robert
Use something like the triangulate2d or remesh SOP before projecting the letters on the sphere. This way the geometry can be properly deformed on the surface of the torus.
acey195
Or a divide node with bricker turned on, depending on the speed/fidelity you need. If you know the shape you are going to ray on, it might also be helpful to pre-rotate the letters, so they follow the shape better, so they get less deformed when you ray them. This system would be a bit more complex to set up, with a copy node and some stamping expressions to transfer the characters to the font node. Atom
Check out the example hip files in this link. https://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=172&page=viewtopic&t=21000&highlight=deform+along+curve
neeraj
Thanks... I tried triangulate2d, remesh as well as divide... but nothing seems to be working in this case. Yeah good with simple twists, but the moment raysop comes into play, nothing helps. An interesting solution was provided with blackpixel here: https://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=172&page=viewtopic&t=39022
