mohit
Can Houdini generate motion vector pass for Volumes using raytrace Engine? If Yes, Please share how and How can we optimise it for faster rendering. I have tried using micropolygon but it is very slow. davpe
i think rendering vector pass for volumes is not possible from the nature of the thing. vectors can be computed only for surfaces that are constructed out of points (if i am not mistaken). the same applies for any other passes that use point position/velocity (depth pass for instance). davpe
regarding optimization process, i answered similar question today in this thread: http://forums.odforce.net/topic/23033-pyro-shader-noisedisplace/ anyways, volumes can be very expensive for rendering if you want a fine detail. while optimization is certainly possible, with more difficult rendering scenarios you should expect long render times.
